The ICA-AP Consumer Committee held the its 53rd Meeting in Tokyo, Japan on November 19, 2019. It was organized by the Japanese Consumers' Co-operative Union (JCCU). Eight Committee members and six observers from four countries attended the meeting. 

 

The meeting was officiated by Mr. Yoshitsugu Fujii, Managing Director of JCCU. Two new members, the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), India and the Colaba Central Cooperative Consumers' Wholesale & Retail Stores Ltd. (Sahakari Bhandar), India joined the committee. The Committee members made presentations about their recent activities and business results, which was followed by active discussions. Mr. Sungjoon Kang, Secretary of the Committee, tabled the Activity Report for the period 2018-2019 and the Activity Plan for 2020.

 

 

In conjunction with the meeting, a seminar on ‘Product Quality Assurance of Japanese Consumer Co-ops’ was held by JCCU. Mr. Akihiro Yamakoshi, Manager, Quality Assurance Dept., JCCU, gave a lecture about “Import Products of JCCU.” Mr. Boku Nakano, Co-op Trade Japan Ltd (subsidiary company of JCCU) made a presentation on “Product Quality Policy of JCCU”.  

 

On November 20, the members made a field trip to Co-op Mirai (biggest primary consumer co-op in Japan) HQ, Co-op Mirai Minami Urawa Store and JCCU Laboratory (Product Inspection Center). 

 

The next Committee Meeting will be held in December 2020 in Seoul, South Korea.
