Philippines is a country that is most vulnerable to the effects of climate change and the battle for climate change requires a holistic approach.  Cooperatives are well-positioned to lead the climate action program in the communities because of their grassroots outreach, cooperatives can educate and influence more people in the community for green practices. The 7th principle, concern for community, also reminds us of cooperatives’ role as stewards of the natural assets - environment, and this is being supported by the Community Development Fund, making sure that the climate action plans will have the fund for implementation and sustainability. NATCCO is committed to achieving the multiple bottom lines, that of people, prosperity, peace, and the planet. “We can prove that our cooperatives can grow without compromising our social and environmental responsibilities.  Through the green co-op award, we will prove once again that co-ops are making this world a better place”, says a representative from NATCCO.
