International Cooperative Alliance Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP) will join the Asian Solidarity Economy Council (ASEC) at the 13th biennial Asia Europe People’s Forum (AEPF 13) to be held from 17 to 24 May 2021 with the theme “Asia Europe People’s Forum for a Just, Peaceful and Sustainable World”.

ICA-AP will participate in the parallel session - ASEC Open Space on Social Inclusion and Social Protection, on 19 May 2021.

In Asia, the vast majority have little or no social protection under an economic system that prioritizes profits over people and planet. In July 2020, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for a new social contract amidst the social and economic dislocations brought about by COVID-19. Drawing on case studies, the speakers propose a Social Solidarity Economy as a new alternative to the neoliberal paradigm.
