ICA Global Youth Network in collaboration with Korean hosts, Coop Pan organized a workshop on the theme “Connecting and Inspiring Youth through Cooperatives” from 26-28 November 2021. 50 young people from 13 different countries participated in the workshop held in Chuncheon, a city in the northeast of Seoul, Republic of Korea. The three-day event was sponsored by the Gangwon Province and the City of Chuncheon.

Chuncheon mayor, Mr. Lee Jae-soo, officially welcomed the participants to the city which is home to 200 cooperatives and called the ‘Cooperative City’.

The event saw presentations by the ICA Youth Network’s Replication Project winners, youth cooperatives from Korea, and the launch of Cooperative Spring, a youth toolkit that features case studies of successful youth cooperatives.  Ms. Emily A.M. Lippold Cheney, the author of the toolkit, said “it is not a ‘how to start a coop’ toolkit, it is deeper, it aims to help those at any stage”.

The workshop ended with a tour to three local Korean cooperatives: JUMO Cooperative, Around the World on Two Wheels Social Cooperative, and Gangwon Forest Cooperative
