ICA-AP and the Korean Federation of Community Credit Co-operatives (KFCCC) Workshop on Sustainable Development Partnership of Credit and Banking Co-operatives (WSDP) was held in Seoul and Jeju, Republic of Korea from June 18-23. The objective of the workshop was to strengthen the credit and banking co-operatives in the region by establishing a vibrant platform of Financial and Banking Co-operatives from Asia and the Pacific.
The welcome ceremony was organized at the head office of KFCC, in Seoul. Executive Director of KFCCC, Mr. Kim Ki Chang, inaugurated the Workshop and hoped that it will help improve communication and cooperation channels. 10 delegates from China, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, The Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and ACCU (International), participated in the Workshop and discussed ways to further develop and strengthen financial co-operatives in the region. The participants visited a local community credit co-operative, Honam Saemaul Geumgo, located in Jeju island.
KFCCC will continue to promote the transfer of the Korean financial co-operative model (Saemaul Geumgo) and share achievements and progress of the workshop with member organizations of the ICA-AP committee on Credit and Banking.
