ICA-AP has two new members, Climbs Life and General Insurance Cooperatives (CLIMBS), Philippines and National Federation of People-based Cooperative Enterprises (INKUR), Indonesia.

 

Climbs Life and General Insurance Cooperatives (CLIMBS), Philippines

 

 

CLIMBS is a life and non-life insurance cooperative. It started in 1971 as an experiment in mutual protection, as an alternative to insurance products offered by big traditional insurance companies. With increasing numbers of members over the years, CLIMBS has increased the number of services to cover their increasing needs. It eventually ventured into partnerships with other cooperatives through Coop Assurance Center (CAC) to become a distribution channel of insurance products and services to its members, and to become a financial solution provide to cooperatives and their members. 

 

From humble beginnings, to date, CLIMBS grew into a cooperative with assets worth 3.64 billion pesos, life confirmation of coverage of 4.2 million and non-life insurance of 32,000 policies. Today, CLIMBS is now a group of companies with insurance as its major business complementing each other and creating a holistic range of products and services for its members. National Federation of People-based Cooperative Enterprises (INKUR), Indonesia

 

 

INKUR is an umbrella organisation for the real sector cooperative movement engaged in the retail, service and production sectors throughout Indonesia. Members of INKUR are composed of multiple cooperative sectors which are genuinely developed from the ground up by the respective founding communities, some of which resulted from a spin-off mechanism initiated by leaders of large credit unions in Indonesia.
